Desiree is a dedicated pelvic health physical therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of North Florida (2023) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science Pre-Clinical from the University of Central Florida (2018). She has specialized training from Brooks Rehabilitation Institute of Higher Learning and is certified in managing urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and defecatory disorders.
In 2024, Dr. Lopez launched Integrated Pelvis LLC, a concierge practice in the Tampa Bay area offering personalized at-home care. Her focus includes pelvic floor dysfunctions such as urinary and fecal incontinence, urinary urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, diastasis recti (DRA) training, pain with intimacy, and post-surgical abdominal pain.
What is Pelvic Physical Therapy?
Pelvic health physical therapy is a specialty provided by trained physical therapists to address issues with the pelvic floor muscles in both men and women. The pelvic floor comprises muscles that support continence, sexual function, pelvic organ stability, and core strength.
This type of therapy can effectively treat a range of conditions, including bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic pain, post- surgical, and issues related to pregnancy and postpartum recovery,
A licensed pelvic floor PT will provide a unique treatment plan and exercise program tailored to your symptoms/goals following a thorough evaluation. Treatment may include: therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, biofeedback, PFM performance and neuromuscular re-education, pain management, patient education, and techniques to reduce bowel/ bladder symptoms.
